Mike Lane and his fellow ab-laden dancers don’t hit the stage until late November, but his team is already at work on Magic Mike The Musical. In the video above, Hollywood’s Magic Mike himself, Channing Tatum, swings by a rehearsal space at New York’s Sunlight Studios as choreographer Camille A. Brown leads a dance creative session.

Also in the room are composer Tom Kitt, lyricist Brian Yorkey, book writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and director Trip Cullman.

The musical will make its world premiere at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre, where performances begin November 30 prior to an official opening December 15. A Broadway transfer is expected to follow.

Tatum, whose pre-film-career years serves as inspiration for the franchise, is a producer on the musical, which will focus on the backstory of a college student-turned stripper, before the events of the 2012 movie and 2015 sequel.

Brown previously choreographed Broadway's Once On This Island revival and Choir Boy, along with NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar: Live in Concert.
