Patti Issues, which celebrated a year-long run at the Duplex and a tour, will play its final performance June 14 at 7 PM. Rimalower's second solo show, Bad With Money, which premiered in September 2014, will play its final performance June 21 at 7 PM.
In recent weeks, Rimalower has been visited by a host of theatrical pals, among them Patti LuPone.
Aaron Mark directs both evenings.
"When Ben Rimalower was eight years old, his father came out of the closet and embarked on a drug-fueled tear that left his family in tatters," according to press notes for Patti Issues. "Amid the chaos of his young life, Ben found comfort—like so many gay boys before him and after—in musical theater, and specifically in the transportive voice of Broadway star Patti LuPone."
In Bad With Money, press notes state, Rimalower "delves into even deeper personal territory with the story of his struggle with debt—a journey that takes him through drug addiction, prostitution, fraud and multiple betrayals.… In this gripping play-by-play of some his biggest mistakes and their consequences, Rimalower offers a no-holds-barred self-portrait of an addict, and casts light on one of the last societal taboos."
