HERMOSA BEACH, CA -- Forbidden Hollywood, Gerard Alessandrini's musical revue spoofing movies and movie stars, will play for two weeks at the Hermosa Civic Theatre. Opening night is Feb. 2 at 8 PM.

Forbidden Broadway opened in New York 12 years ago and has been performed regionally ever since. Because musicals went through a perceived slump a couple of years ago, and there was less new material to spoof, Alessandrini took a break and decided to do a revue of movie satires instead -- hence Forbidden Hollywood.

A four-person cast impersonates and satirizes the likes of Keanu Reeves, Melanie Griffith, Meryl Streep, Jim Carrey and Demi Moore.

Other comic targets are Liza Minnelli, Marlon Brando and Barbra Streisand.

Presented by the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities, Forbidden Hollywood plays through Feb. 14, 1999 at the Hermosa Civic Theatre, Pier Ave. at Pacific Coast Highway. Call (310) 372-4477. -- By Willard Manus
