News Forbidden Recording Will Come Out Swinging! in July The original cast recording of Gerard Alessandrini’s Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging! will be released on DRG Records July 22.

Conceived, executed and produced by Hugh Fordin, the recording features Carter Calvert, Scott Richard Foster, Mia Gentile and Marcus Stevens, with David Caldwell on piano.

This CD marks Forbidden Broadway’s 12th cast recording with DRG. To kick-off the CD release, Barnes & Noble (150 East 86th Street) will host an in-store appearance and performance July 22 from 4 PM-6 PM.

Following a 10-month hiatus, Forbidden Broadway resumed performances Feb. 22 at the Davenport Theatre. Opening night was May 4. As previously reported, the production will end its run there July 20.

Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging! includes Alessandrini’s takes on Kinky Boots, Matilda, Rocky, Cabaret, The Bridges of Madison County, Aladdin, Pippin, the turntable-less Les Miz, Motown, The Sound of Music Live! and Bullets Over Broadway, among others.

Forbidden Broadway is created and written by Alessandrini and directed by Phillip George and Alessandrini with musical direction by David Caldwell, set by Megan K. Halpern, lighting by Mark T. Simpson, costumes by Dustin Cross and Philip Heckman, sound by Matt Kraus and wigs by Bobbie Cliffton Zlotnick.

The show is produced by John Freedson, Harriet Yellin and Paul Bartz, in association with Paul G. Rice, Carol Ostrow, Paxton Quigley and Robert Driemeyer, Jamie DeRoy, Lawrence Poster and Tweiss Productions.
