News Ford's Theatre Cancels Feb. 13 Performances of Violet Due to Snow Ford's Theatre Society has canceled its Feb. 13 performances of the musical Violet, which were scheduled for noon and 7:30 PM, due to inclement weather.

Directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun, Violet stars Erin Driscoll in the title role.

The cast also includes James Gardiner as Monty and Kevin McAllister as Flick with Madeline Botteri, Troy Hopper, Kellee Knighten Hough, Gregory Maheu, Katie McManus, Amy McWilliams, Nova Y. Payton, Stephen F. Schmidt, Chris Sizemore, Bobby Smith, Stephen Gregory Smith and Lauren Williams.

Based on "The Ugliest Pilgrim" by Doris Betts, Violet features music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics and book by Brian Crawley. The music director is Jay Crowder.

"A touching story of hope, love and healing, Violet, is set in the early 1960s and follows the story of a physically scarred young woman, who travels across the South in search of a televangelist’s healing miracle," press notes state. "On her journey into Oklahoma, Violet meets Monty and Flick, two soldiers who help her learn about courage, beauty and her own self-worth."

The production also has scenic design by Tobin Ost, costume design by Wade Laboissonniere, lighting design by Michael Gilliam, sound design by David Budries and wig and makeup design by Anne Nesmith. The production team also includes production stage manager Brandon Prendergast and assistant stage manager Kate Kilbane. Theatregoers who purchased tickets to Violet will be contacted with information about exchange options.

The Ford's Theatre National Historic Site will also be closed to daytime visitors Feb. 13.
