Former Miss America 1998 Kate Shindle replaces Lea Thompson as Sally Bowles on the Cabaret tour effective July 11, in Denver. Lea Thompson continues in the role through July 9. Shindle is scheduled for engagements in the United States and Canada. Most recently, Shindle understudied the role of Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde, and comes to the Cabaret tour direct from Broadway.

No stranger to the road, Shindle received her degree in theatre from Northwestern University in June 1999 after logging 20,000 miles a month working as an AIDS activist in her capacity as Miss America. Her theatre credits include Into the Woods (Witch), City of Angels (Bobbi/Gabby), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (narrator), Anything Goes (Reno) and Children of Eden (Yonah). Produced by SFX Theatrical Group, in association with Eric and Scott Nederlander & Jujamcyn Productions, the national touring production of Cabaret opened in March, 1999 in Los Angeles. Cabaret features a book by Joe Masteroff, with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb. Helmed on Broadway by Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes ("American Beauty"), the show was co-directed/choreographed by Rob Marshall (ABC TV's recent broadcast and home-video release of Annie ). The Roundabout Theatre Company revival garnered 30 major award nominations and four Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. Roundabout's production is still running at Studio 54.
