Featuring stars Beyoncé Knowles, Anika Noni Rose and Jennifer Hudson as the title trio, the album hits its fourth week in the No. 1 position on the Top Soundtracks (where the Deluxe Edition also charts at No. 5) and slides to No. 3 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums charts.

Both the Decca Broadway original 1982 release as well as the recent Hip O/Geffen special edition both hit their fifth week on the chart, holding at No. 7 and 9, respectively.

"Chicago" screenwriter Bill Condon directed and adapted "Dreamgirls," starring Jennifer Hudson as Effie, Beyoncé Knowles as Deena Jones, Anika Noni Rose as Lorrell Robinson, Jamie Foxx as Curtis Taylor Jr., Eddie Murphy as James "Thunder" Early and Danny Glover as Marty. The film recently received eight Academy Award nominations.
