Classic Arts News France Makes Susan Graham Commander of Arts and Letters Mezzo-soprano Susan Graham was presented with the medal of the Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in a ceremony in Paris in June.
Graham received the order of Chevalier in 2001, and was promoted to Commander, according to a press release, for her recordings and performances of French opera and songs, and for her charitable work for the Louvre Museum.

Named Musical America's vocalist of the year in 2004, Graham has sung in the world's great opera houses and concert halls. She studied at the Manhattan School of Music and was awarded a career grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation.
