The program includes tributes to Mozart, Shostakovich, and Bart‹k, on the 250th, 100th, and 125th anniversaries of their births, respectively, as well as a commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Schumann's death. On August 16, Momo Kodama and Isabelle Faust will give the first-ever performance of Messiaen's Fantasia for Violin and Piano.
Hough's performance will include his own composition Three Mozart Transformations, as well as works by Mozart, Schumann, Liszt, and Busoni. Composer and pianist Lera Auerbach will perform her own work and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.
Other pianists on the schedule include Boris Beresovsky, Ivo Pogorelich, Till Fellner, and Rafal Blechacz, among many others. Orchestral concerts feature the English Chamber Orchestra, Concerto K‹ln, and Bilbao Symphonic Orchestra.
