The film will focus on an aging rock star (Penn) who becomes obsessed with finding the Nazi war criminal who tortured his father in a concentration camp. Details on McDormand's role have not been disclosed.

McDormand, an Academy Award winner for "Fargo," will again appear on Broadway this spring in David Lindsay-Abaire's The Good People. Other stage credits include North Atlantic, Far Away, The Country Girl and A Streetcar Named Desire (Tony nomination). She received additional Oscar nominations for "Mississippi Burning," "Almost Famous" and "North Country."
