John Leguizamo may have gone home empty-handed from the 1998 Tony Awards, but Oct. 20 he'll receive a prize that may be just as meaningful. According to the NY Post (June 15), Casita Maria, NYC's oldest Hispanic settlement house, will bestow a medal of honor on Leguizamo for his efforts to promote Latin culture. The award will be given at the Plaza Hotel at a benefit for the residence. The limited engagement of John Leguizamo's hit one-man Broadway show, Freak, originally scheduled to conclude its run Mar. 29, then extended through May 1 and continued through July 4. Leguizamo's other shows included Mambo Mouth and Spic-O-Rama.
