150 years after the famous one in California, New York has a Gold Rush!, presented by Theatreworks/USA at the Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse July 22-Aug. 7. The children's musical is free. Set in California, the Dick Gallagher-Mark Waldrop-David Armstrong musical follows a group of gold seekers from all over the United States and the world as they try to strike it rich in the 1840s West. Gallagher and Waldrop co-wrote three Howard Crabtree pieces, Whoop-Dee-Doo!, Whatnot and When Pigs Fly. Armstrong co-created the Cole Porter revue Hot n' Cole with Waldrop, as well as co-writing the musical The Wonder Years.
