News Free NYC Run of Goodbar Re-Imagines 1970s Novel and Film Judith Rossner's 1975 novel "Looking for Mr. Goodbar," which inspired the film of the same title, comes to life in the new play with music, Goodbar, presented free in Manhattan's East River Park beginning Aug. 20.

New York City theatrical troupe Waterwell and the rock band Bambï collaborated on the world premiere that is offered at 8 PM through Aug. 22 as part of the City Parks Foundation SummerStage series.

Arian Moayed directs a cast that includes Hanna Cheek, Cara Jeiven, Jimmie Marlowe, Tobi Parks and Kevin Townley.

Goodbar explores "the timeless themes of sexuality, independence and persona as seen refracted through a disco ball. Join Bambï and Waterwell as they take on this dark classic, celebrating New York in all its grim glamour."

Goodbar has scenic design by Nick Benacerraf, lighting design by Adam Frank, costume design by Erik Bergrin and video design by Adam Koch. Robert Signom, III will serve as stage manager.

Rossner penned the 1975 novel, inspired by real events, about a New York City schoolteacher with a dangerous sexual appetite. Diane Keaton starred in the 1978 film. For complete SummerStage scheduling visit SummerStage.
