Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl: A Radio Play, directed by Jennifer Strome, was recorded Sept. 6 at The Invisible Studios in Los Angeles and is available, for free on demand, Sept. 15-18 at TheIdealistOnstage.com.

The cast features Justine Huxley (Theatreworks USA's Max and Ruby) and voice-over coach and actor Rick Zieff as Anne and Otto Frank, respectively, with Yuri Lowenthal, Bruce Nozick ("Weeds"), Tracy Pattin, Tara Platt, Tasia Valenza and Katie Zieff.

"Not heard since the eve of Rosh Hashanah in 1952, when it aired nationally on CBS Radio, Levin's play was the first adaptation of Anne Frank's diary," according to press notes. 

"There is a lot more truth in this first adaptation of Anne Frank's diary," said director Strome in a previous statement. "Levin's groundbreaking, honest dramatization sticks to the facts, and allows Anne Frank's own words to prevail as her father wished. Teaching tolerance and cultivating peace were ideals Anne Frank upheld. Restoring Levin's radio play as a podcast introduces a historic, dramatic form that I hope can be utilized in the classroom for students and scholars."

Following Levin's Radio Play, playwrights Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich wrote The Diary of Anne Frank, a different adaption, which opened on Broadway in October 1955.   This production marks the first occasion that the Anne Frank Foundation in Basel, Switzerland, has acknowledged Levin's work on the Diary since the late 1950s. Bernhard Elias, Frank's only surviving cousin and president of the Foundation, in accordance with the Foundation's board, voted unanimously to approve the presentation.
