News   Free Reading of Jonathan Larson Award Winner Sunfish Presented Dec. 19
A free reading of Sunfish, a new musical that has already won the 2005 Jonathan Larson Award, the 2005 Daryl Roth Award and the 2005 Daniel Marshall Multicultural Award, will be offered Dec. 19.

The 7 PM reading will be presented in Manhattan at the Blue Heron Arts Center as part of the 6th Annual TRU Musicals Reading Series. Ben Rimalower, who helmed the Off-Broadway comedy Joy, directs a cast that includes Marie-France Arcilla, Corey Bradley, Marisa Echeverria, Alison Fraser, Orville Mendoza, Daniel Torres, James Stovall and Josh Walden. Jasper Grant will be the evening's musical director. Sunfish features music by Hyeyoung Kim, lyrics by Michael Cooper and a book by both Kim and Cooper.

In a statement director Rimalower said, "Sunfish [is] a contemporary spin on the traditional Sim-Chung Korean folk tale of family sacrifice and love. I fell in love with its ravishing score and fantastical storytelling style the moment I read it."

The Blue Heron Arts Center is located in Manhattan at 123 East 24th Street. Although the reading is free, reservations are required by calling (212) 714- 7628.
