Directed by Jamibeth Margolis, the cast comprises Ragtime's Quentin Earl Darrington as well as Meggie Cansler (Finian's Rainbow; Wicked), Evan Edwards (Miss Saigon, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, European tours), Sevan Greene (Betrayed, Culture Project), Kevin Melendez (Midnight Madness, NYMF), Jessica Mortellaro (Blind Man's Bluff, Producer's Club), Soneela Nankani (Archbishop Supreme Tartuffe, Classical Theatre of Harlem), Chloe Patellis (Tony n' Tina's Wedding) and Will Ray (Little House on the Prairie).
Ocean in a Teacup features book and music by Joel Krantz and lyrics by Krantz and Neil Selden. The musical, according to press notes, is "set during and after WWII and [is] based on a true story about a disillusioned American who seeks redemption in war-torn India."
The reading, which is produced by Sherry Eaker as part of the 10th annual TRU (Theater Resources Unlimited) Musical Reading Series, will be followed by a reception and a "Dollars and Sense" panel featuring prominent commercial producers, general managers and/or marketing experts.
