Directed by Alexander Greenfield (associate director of Broadway's upcoming Outside Mullingar), the 2 PM reading features Tony Award winner Kaye (Nice Work If You Can Get It), Gerry Bamman ("Home Alone"), Mark H. Dold (Freud's Last Session), Jeffrey Hayenga (The Elephant Man), Suzanne Grodner (Bye Bye Birdie), playwright Raver, Katie Fabel, Sarah Hankins, Fenton Lawless, Patrick Prudent and Whit Leyenberger. The adaptation, according to press notes, "sets Chekhov's play in Connecticut in the summer of 1937, just before America joined World War II."
Raver's Seagull was presented by The Pearl Theatre Company earlier this year, and his adaptation of The Picture Of Dorian Gray was produced by Sonnet Repertory Theatre last summer. A reading of Raver's new play, Fire on Babylon, directed by Paul Barnes (Great River Shakespeare Festival), was recently presented at Manhattan Theatre Club's Creative Center.
