The Public Theater’s touring production of Twelfth Night arrives at the downtown theatre April 24 for a free, limited, sit-down engagement. Saheem Ali directs the Mobile Unit staging, which sets the bard’s classic comedy to the rhythms of house, Cuban, and ‘90s beats.
Twelfth Night arrives Off-Broadway following a three-week tour of correctional facilities, homeless shelters, and community centers. The show will play at the Public through May 14 in the LuEsther Theater.
The cast is made up of Stephen S. Chacon (Sebastian), Michael Bradley Cohen (Orsino, Sir Andrew Aguecheek), Danaya Esperanza (Viola), Ceci Fernandez (Olivia), Christopher Ryan Grant (Sir Toby Belch), Donnetta Lavinia Grays (Feste), Aneesh Sheth (Maria), David Ryan Smith (Malvolio), and Michael Thurber (Antonio).
The production features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Dede Ayite, music composition by Michael Thurber, movement direction by Tanya Birl, and fight direction by Lisa Kopitsky.
