The French ambassador invested director Deborah Warner and actress Fiona Shaw as officers of Arts and Letters, in a ceremony at the French Embassy in Knightsbridge on Dec. 3.
This follows Warner's recent collection of a Best Director award, and Shaw's Best Actress award at the recent Evening Standard Drama Awards, for their work on Medea, the ancient Greek tragedy about a mother driven to kill her children in revenge at her husband's infidelity.
Their version of Euripides' drama was performed at the Queen's Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue at the beginning of the year.
