Following its run at BSC Stage 2, the drama will begin performances at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre July 9 with an official opening scheduled for July 22. The Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater at the West Side Y is located in Manhattan at 10 West 64th Street.
Mark H. Dold and Martin Rayner co-star under the direction of Tyler Marchant.
Freud's Last Session, according to press notes, "centers on legendary psychiatrist Dr. Sigmund Freud (Martin Rayner), who invites the young, rising academic star C.S. Lewis (Mark H. Dold) to his home in London. Lewis, expecting to be called on the carpet for satirizing Freud in a recent book, soon realizes Freud has a much more significant agenda. On the day England enters World War II, Freud and Lewis clash on the existence of God, the joy of love, the purpose of sex, and the meaning of life – just a few weeks before Freud's own death."
The play is based on Dr. Armand Nicholi's "The Question of God," which was presented as a two-part PBS television presentation in 2004.
