News   Friedman and Kellogg's Stunt Girl Premieres in Washington State March 18 The world premiere of David Friedman and Peter Kellogg's musical Stunt Girl begins performances March 18 at the Village Theatre in Issaquah, WA.

Steve Tomkins directs the full production of the musical that originated as part of the Village Theatre's Festival of New Musicals in 2005 and 2006. Stunt Girl continues its Issaquah run through April 26 and will arrive in Everett, WA, from May 1-24.

Sarah Chalfy, who starred in 27 Rue de Fleurus Off-Broadway, portrays Nellie Bly in a cast that also features John Patrick Lowrie (Joseph Pulitzer), Dane Stokinger (Arthur Brisbane), Hugh Hastings (Robert Seaman), Eric Polani Jensen (Howard Martin), Jessica Skerritt (Phoebe) and John X. Deveney (John Cockerill).

The ensemble includes Kristin Culp, Trish LaGrua, Charissa Bertels, Rebekah Krupke, Jeff Church, Bob De Dea, Josh Krupke, Ian Lindsay, Jason Kappus, Christian Duhamel, Kyle Anderson, John McDevitt, Justin Ramsey and Luke Vroman.

Featuring a score by Friedman with book and lyrics by Kellogg, Stunt Girl is described as such: "Before tabloid television, before the paparazzi, back when the news business was new...she was the original sensation. Nellie Bly was a groundbreaking investigative journalist, an intrepid world traveler, and a captain of industry — all in a time before America gave women the right to vote. Bridging the years from the turn of the twentieth century to the First World War, this remarkable woman comes to tuneful life in the rollicking new musical Stunt Girl, a fast and funny account of her life and loves, her hopes and heartbreak, and her fascinating times."
