News Friedman and Simmons, Jr. to Star in Epic's More Perfect Union Epic Theatre Ensemble will present the world premiere of A More Perfect Union, which is scheduled to begin previews at Off-Broadway's East 13th Street Theater May 5.

Directed by Ron Russell, Vern Thiessen's two-character play will officially open May 12. Performances continue through June 7.

The cast will feature Melissa Friedman and Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr. as Supreme Court law clerks.

A More Perfect Union, according to press notes, "is a new play about two Law Clerks at the U.S. Supreme Court who have very different backgrounds and opposing political views. When they fall in love their relationship challenges their ethics and careers, as well as threatens to expose a dirty little secret about the Highest Court in our land."

The creative team includes Troy Hourie (sets), Theresa Squire (costumes), Tyler Micoleau (lights) and Ron Russell (sound). The production stage manager is Erin Koster.

The 13th Street Theater is located at 136 East 13th Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues. Tickets, priced $37.50 ($10 matinee tickets are available in May), can be purchased by visiting www.epictheatreensemble.org or by calling (212) 352-3101.
