The English Language debut of The Black Rider by Beat writer William S. Burroughs ("Naked Lunch"), gravel-voiced singer Tom Waits, and avant-garde director Robert Wilson will make its American debut at The New York Fringe Festival, at The Harry DeJur Playhouse, Aug. 19 - 29. The dark operetta about love, hunting and the devil premiered played at NYC's Brooklyn Academy of Music directed by Wilson, with a text in German. Much of the lyrics were recorded by Waits for his "Black Rider" CD with Waits himself singing the roles.
