Can Oscar Wilde sustain another dramatization of his life? To find out, take in the Skullduggery Theatre Company's production of Pictures of Oscar, to be seen as part of the New York International Fringe Festival, Aug. 16-23, at the Henry Street Settlement. London didn't care for the American Off-Broadway hit Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde. Now New York shall judge the London based Skullduggery's treatment of the same subject matter. Stuart Denman wrote the piece, while Damien Skully and Emma Douglas (presumedly the "skull" and "dug" of the theatre's name) direct. The play "celebrates Wilde's wit in a highly theatrical interpretation of his life and works."
The Fringe Fest runs Aug. 16-27. Tickets are $12. For information on Pictures of Oscar, call the Fringe, call (212) 420-8877, or consult the website at www.fringenyc.org.
