News Frog & Peach's 5th Season Previews Jan. 27 With King Lear Jaime Sanchez (Lear) and Lynnea Benson (Cordelia /The Fool) star in the Frog and Peach Theatre Company production of Shakespeare's King Lear beginning Jan. 27. Directed by Ted Zurkowski, Lear the show opens officially Jan. 30 and runs through Feb. 20 at the Theatre at the West-Park Church in Manhattan.

This is the fifth season that Frog and Peach has presented Shakespeare on the Upper West Side at Theatre at the West-Park Church, which is located at 165 West 86th Street (at Amsterdam Avenue).

Lear star Jaime Sanchez recently appeared at Primary Stages in Barefoot Boy with Shoes On. His co-star, Benson co-founded the Frog and Peach Theatre Company.

Production notes indicate that Zurkowski’s production deals with incest, the dissolution of great wealth and power, the destruction of a family and the downfall of a tyrant. Also a co-founder of Frog and peach, Zurkowski has directed Romeo and Juliet, Cymbeline, and Measure for Measure for the company. As an actor, he recently appeared in the Frog & Peach production of Much Ado About Nothing and, last season, in the company's production of Hamlet opposite Austin Pendleton.

The cast also features Phillipe Brenninkemeyer, Joe Corey, Tom Fenaughty, Matthew Freeman, Mervyn Haines, Jr., Ted Joseph, Stephen T. Kaiser, Vivien Landau, Robert Lehrer, Andrea Leigh, Tom Marsden, Hal Smith Reynolds, and John Steinfels. The production team for Lear includes set and lighting designer Gabe Hakvaag, and fight director Ian Marshall.
