In 2014 Audra McDonald won her 6th Tony Award for her leading performance in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, having previously won Tony Awards for Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime, The Gershwins’ Porgy, and Bess, and A Raisin in the Sun.

McDonald is currently making her West End bow in the London engagement of Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill which opened at Wyndham’s Theatre June 27. McDonald reprises her performance as Billie Holiday in the Lanie Robertson play, which offers a glimpse into one of the final performances from the legendary jazz and blues singer before her death in 1959. The play with music will run through September 9.
