Lucy Kirkwood’s play makes its American debut following an acclaimed world premiere in London.

Catch a glimpse of the American premiere of The Children, a new play by Olivier Award winner Lucy Kirkwood (Chimerica), now on Broadway, in the video above. Currently in performances at the Samuel J. Friedman Theater, the play arrives on Broadway following an acclaimed world premiere at London’s Royal Court in 2016.

In The Children, three retired nuclear engineers reunite in a remote cottage on the British coast. Outside, a nuclear power plant accident has caused serious destruction—raising questions about who is responsible and what the solution is.

Manhattan Theatre Club’s American premiere of The Children celebrates its official opening December 12 following previews that began November 28.

James Macdonald directs a cast made up of Francesca Annis (BBC’s Cranford), Olivier Award nominee Ron Cook (Juno and the Paycock), and Olivier Award winner Deborah Findlay (Stanley). The entire cast reprises their performances from the acclaimed London run.
