News   Frost/Nixon's Michael Sheen Cast in Showtime Pilot "Masters of Sex" Stage and screen actor Michael Sheen will star as 1960s human sexuality pioneer William Masters in Showtime's drama pilot "Masters of Sex," according to Deadline.com.

The project, written by Michelle Ashford and directed by John Madden, is an adaptation of Thomas Maier's book "Masters of Sex: The Life And Times Of William Masters And Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How To Love." The Showtime drama will chronicle the lives and romance of Masters (Sheen) and Johnson, who will be played by Lizzy Caplan ("Mean Girls," "127 Hours").

Sheen and his manager Tammy Rosen will serve as producers on the show that is scheduled to begin production in March in New York.

Sheen created the role of TV interviewer David Frost in the West End production of Frost/Nixon. He reprised his performance on Broadway as well as in the 2008 feature film. The actor, who has also appeared on Broadway in Amadeus, has been seen in the films "Midnight in Paris," "Beautiful Boy," "New Moon" and "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1," among others.
