Show time for the Oct. 18-20 run is 8 PM. The Oct. 20 performance of the one-man show benefits Body Politic Theater. The Fula From America, which was previously seen at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, is based on playwright-performer Brown's travels in West Africa and is described as "the story of one African-American's search for an African identity.

"Set in 1981, the traveler sets off on a journey that takes him to Senegal, Mali, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea and Sierra Leone," according to press notes. "From deep in the bush to the corridors of the African elite, he discovers friendship, generosity, poverty, wondrous beauty and civil war. As his adventures unfold, he finds himself on the boundary of the African-American hyphen where the question arises: how much of him is African and how much is American?"

A question-and-answer session with the audience will follow the Oct. 20 performance.

The Fula From America features lighting design by Mike Wangen.

TBG Theatre is located at 312 West 36th Street. Tickets are available by calling (212) 868-4444 or by visiting www.smarttix.com.
