The play will open Feb. 10, 1999, a significant date. Fifty years ago, on Feb. 10, 1949, the original production of Salesman bowed on Broadway.

Anderson last visited Broadway in the Peter Hall production of Orpheus Descending starring Vanessa Redgrave. Other New York credits include Red Address at Second Stage and the Off-Broadway hit Orphans , a production of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company, of which he is a member. (Ironically, the last major Broadway revival of Salesman also featured a Steppenwolf actor in the role of Biff- John Malkovich.) In London, he starred with Patti LuPone as the original Joe Gillis in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard . Anderson's film credits include "Sleeping with the Enemy," "Miles from Home" and "Orphans."

Dennehy is the veteran of many films, including "First Blood" and "Cocoon," as well as stage productions of Galileo and The Iceman Cometh . Franz recently appeared Off-Broadway in the Atlantic Theatre Company's production of Miles from the Blue Route .

Death of a Salesman , directed by Robert Falls, played an acclaimed run earlier this year at Chicago's Goodman Theatre before being picked up for a Broadway visit. Falls was recently plucked to restage Disney's troubled new musical Elaborate Live . For information on Death of a Salesman, call (212) 239-6200.
