Full casting has been announced for a new production of Bertolt Brecht’s The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui that begins performances April 21 prior to an official opening May 2 at London’s Donmar Warehouse, for a run through June 17.
Presented in a new translation by Bruce Norris and directed by Simon Evans, the previously announced Lenny Henry in the title role will be joined by veteran classical actor Michael Pennington as Dogsborough. Casting also includes Tom Edden (Tony-nominated for the transfer of One Man, Two Guvnors from the National to Broadway), Philip Cumbus, Lucy Eaton, Lucy Ellinson, Simon Holland Roberts, Louis Martin, Justine Mitchell, Gloria Obianyo, Guy Rhys, and Giles Terera.
The play that charts the rise of a demagogue will be designed by Peter McKintosh, with lighting by Howard Harrison, sound and music by Ed Lewis, and movement by Stephen Mear.
