With "money" reviews from the New York Times and other publications in its gym bag, Off-Broadway's Lysistrata Jones — the pop-comic musical rewrite of Aristophanes' ancient Greek anti-war comedy, now set on a basketball court — will get an extra week, through June 24.

Produced by Transport Group, the New York City premiere of Lysistrata Jones plays at Judson Memorial Church Gymnasium, 243 Thompson Street at Washington Square South. It has a book by Douglas Carter Beane (Sister Act, Xanadu); music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn; and direction and choreography by Dan Knechtges (…Spelling Bee).

TG's artistic director Jack Cummings III said in a statement, "We are overjoyed and thrilled that audiences are loving Lysistrata Jones. Like all good college girls, I'm sure she'll be back on campus in the fall."

Commercial producers have been sniffing around the show since previews began, leading to the June 5 opening.

In the show, "The Athens University basketball team hasn't won a game in 30 years. But when spunky transfer student Lysistrata Jones dares the squad's fed-up girlfriends to stop 'giving it up' to their boyfriends until they win a game, their legendary losing streak could be coming to an end."

The cast of Lysistrata Jones is Alexander Aguilar (Uardo), Katie Boren (Lampito Kanagawa), Lindsay Chambers (Robin/Shelley), Max Kumangai (Tyllus), Liz Mikel (Heterai), Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones), Kat Nejat (Cleonice), Josh Segarra (Mick), LaQuet Sharnell (Mhyrinne), Jason Tam (Xander), Teddy Toye (Harold), and Alex Wyse (Cinesius). Ato Blankson-Wood takes over the role of Tyllus beginning Wednesday, June 15.
