Farewell to Jay Joslyn, former theatre critic for the Milwaukee Sentinel. As reported by NY's Newsday (June 2), Joslyn died of cancer May 30. A visitation service is being held the afternoon of June 2 at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. The funeral is at 7 PM June 2. Joslyn, 74, also wrote about dance, music and art but was best known as a theatre reviewer. After the Sentinel merged with the Milwaukee Journal in 1995, he continued writing a weekly arts column for the Journal Sentinal's Waukesha edition until this spring.
Asked about her colleague, former arts writer for the Milwaukee Sentinel Anne Siegel told Playbill On-Line, "I wrote for him for years at the Sentinel. Setting him apart from other critics was that he was even-tempered, a champion for the arts. Even the small, unsung production would get fair and equitable treatment from Jay Joslyn."
