The video has already been watched more than 500,000 times on YouTube. Applegate, who starred on Broadway in Sweet Charity (2005), sends up Streep's acting tics as she recreates brief scenes from Streep's movies, including Mamma Mia! and Doubt. Along the way, she reveals Streep's "secret" of how the multiple Oscar winner cries so easily.
Applegate's impressions are extremely broad. "Honestly," says the voiceover at one point, "it's like she's not even trying."
The clip also parodies Lifetime cable network's budget biographies of female celebrities.
