John Rando (Urinetown) will direct the one-man show, which plays the MA venue Sept. 12-Nov. 1. In a statement Garrison said, "Red [Barber] was an American original – a pioneer broadcaster on both radio and television, a man who brought baseball into the homes of countless fans, a Southerner transplanted to New York, a writer and humorist in the grand tradition of Mark Twain and H.L. Menken ('the catbird seat' and 'rhubarb' were phrases coined by Red), and a man troubled by alcoholism and perfectionism. Red's daughter Sarah was a neighbor of mine in Santa Fe and brought the script, by Andrew Guerdat, to my attention. I was immediately impressed by both Andy's work and Red's character. It is a character rich in irony and intelligence."

David Garrison was most recently on Broadway in Wicked. He received a Tony nomination for his role in A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, and his other theatrical credits include Bells Are Ringing, Titanic, The Pirates of Penzance, Torch Song Trilogy, I Do! I Do!, Randy Newman's Faust, Merrily We Roll Along and You Never Know. His television credits are numerous and include "Murphy Brown," "Murder, She Wrote," "Married with Children," "L.A. Law" and "Law & Order."
