News   Gary Griffin Will Direct Stratford A Little Night Music; Casting Announced
Casting has been announced for the Stratford Festival's upcoming production of the classic Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical A Little Night Music, which will begin previews at the Canadian venue May 21, 2016, prior to an official opening June 21.

Directed by Gary Griffin (The Color Purple, Honeymoon in Vegas), performances will continue through Oct. 23.

The production will have orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick and musical direction by Franklin Brasz.

Based on Ingmar Bergman’s film "Smiles of a Summer Night," A Little Night Music, according to Stratford, is a "playful exploration of love’s endless possibilities. Its story whisks us away to Sweden, on a midsummer weekend in the country, and into a dizzying whirl of romance between lovers old and new."

The cast will feature Ben Carlson as Fredrik Egerman, Cynthia Dale as Countess Charlotte Malcolm, Yanna McIntosh as Desirée Armfeldt, Juan Chioran as Carl-Magnus, Sara Farb as Petra and Alexis Gordon as Anne, with Matt Alfano as Frid, Gabriel Antonacci as Henrik, André Morin as Bertrand and Kimberly Ann-Truong as Fredrika.

Sean Arbuckle, Barbara Fulton, Ayrin Mackie and Jennifer Rider-Shaw will play members of the Quintet. The fifth member is yet to be announced. For more information visit
