News Gavin Creel and Billy Porter to Sing Scott Alan Tunes April 11 A host of theatre favorites will take part in an upcoming evening at the Duplex Cabaret Theater celebrating the songs of up-and-coming composer lyricist Scott Alan.

Thoroughly Modern Millie's Gavin Creel, Grease!'s Billy Porter, Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, Sarah Plain and Tall's Kate Wetherhead and Courtney Balan will all be on hand April 11 to perform Alan's songs. Wetherhead and Balan, who co-star in Alan's upcoming musical Piece, will present a song from that musical. Piece, according to production notes, concerns "a 44-year-old women who recalls her life through the eyes of her 17, 26 and 35-year-old selves." Gerry McIntyre will direct the 7 and 9 PM performances with musical direction by Avenue Q's Stephen Oremus. Scott Alan, a cousin of Dream True's Ricky Ian Gordon, will accompany the singers and perform some of his works. In related news, the songwriter and singer-actress Bean have recorded "Home," a song from Piece. That recording can be found at www.scottalan.net.
