The new musical revue, A Perfectly Normal Boy, beginning off-off Broadway performances Feb. 26 at the Sanford Meisner Theatre, tackles the subject of "any and every gay man's life -- in 30 musical numbers or less."

Composer-lyricist Paul Bruce, a Michigan native whose previous shows were staged there, examines aspects of gay life through songs ranging in styles from country to rock 'n' roll to soft shoe. Songs include "My First Step Was a Time Step," "The Bad Drag Rag," Those Beautiful Boys" and Looking for Mr. Right."

Zate Entertainment is producing the revue, directed by the author and choreographed by Vic DiMonda. Designers are Bryan Hurlburt (costumes) and Obie Burch (sets and lighting). Performances continue to Mar. 7.

“This musical is designed to examine the stages of life as seen through the eyes of a gay man," Bruce said in production notes. "It challenges the observer to rethink the concept of a ‘normal’ life -- knowing that no human being in the history of the world has ever lead one.”

The "Perfectly Normal Boys" are Brian James Grace, Jon David Kohnen, Edward Prostak, Kilty Reidy, Tony Romero, Don Simmons, Brian Swasey, Luis Villabon. Bruce has worked extensively as a director, choreographer, music director, pianist and performer. He has written children's shows and full length musicals.
