News   Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles Celebrate Elton John in Rocket Man, July 11-13 The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles will celebrate the work of the pop and Broadway composer with Rocket Man: The Music of Elton John at the Alex Theatre, July 11-13.

Songs from Sir Elton John's current representations on Broadway — The Lion King and Aida — will be featured in the evening. Celebrating the great array of work produced by John, Rocket Man will incorporate songs from his popular and Broadway canon including "Hakuna Matata," "The Strongest Suit," "Written in the Stars" and "The Gods Love Nubia."

Other songs in the program include "Benny and the Jets," "Your Song," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," "The Cage," "Harmony," "Have Mercy on the Criminal," "Club at the End of the Street," "The One," "Candle in the Wind," "Talking Old Soldiers," "Honky Cat," "Blue Eyes," "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word," "Crocodile Rock," "Daniel," "Rocket Man," "The Last Song," "Believe," "Salvation," "I'm Still Standing," "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," "Philadelphia Freedom," Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting."

The concert ends their 24th season. The company was given much attention this season as a number of their members were featured as part of the plotline in the HBO drama "Six Feet Under." The gay character of David played by Michael C. Hall (Cabaret, Chicago) joined the choir earlier in the season.

Chorus member Bill Bowersock will produce the event for artistic director Dr. Bruce Mayhall.
