Hyler, who helmed the recent NYMF production of Flambé Dreams, will direct the 7:30 PM reading, which is held in the Winona State University Performing Arts Center Theatre and includes a post-show discussion.
Schatz (Oh, Gastronomy!), who received the 2012 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist, is the musical's composer-lyricist; Herrick (Fool Moon), artistic director of the Red Clay Ramblers, is co-composer, lyricist and musical arranger.
Georama "tells the story of American artist John Banvard, who traveled the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers as a young man in the mid-1800s — first as a sketch artist scrambling to make a living, and later as a showman in towns and on board riverboats up and down the Mississippi. Banvard invented and created the first georama, a 3,000-foot long scrolled painting of the Mississippi River from St. Louis to New Orleans."
The reading will feature GRSF resident acting company members Doug Scholz Carlson as John Banvard, Stephanie Lambourn as Elizabeth, Jonathan Gillard Daly as Chapman and others, and Michael Fitzpatrick as Coring and others; Corey Allen will read stage directions.
Herrick and GRSF company member Nicholas Throop will provide musical accompaniment. Christopher Sadler is the production's stage manager. The Winona State University Performing Arts Center Theatre is located at 175 West Mark Street in Winona, MN. Visit GRSF.org.
