George Stiles and Anthony Drewe's The 3 Little Pigs to Play West End's Palace | Playbill

News George Stiles and Anthony Drewe's The 3 Little Pigs to Play West End's Palace George Stiles and Anthony Drewe's The 3 Little Pigs, a musical twist on the classic fairytale, will play daytime performances at the West End's Palace Theatre, beginning daytime Aug. 5 for a run through Sept. 6. The Commitments, currently running at the Palace Theatre, will maintain its regular schedule.

The cast will include Simon Webbe (best known as a member of the British boy band Blue), Gareth Gates (a former pop star whose West End credits have included playing Marius in Les Miserables), Leanne Jones (Olivier winner for originating the role of Tracy Turnblad in the West End's Hairspray) and Taofique Folarin.

The show, which is directed by Drewe, will be designed by Jason Denvir, with choreography by Ewan Jones, lighting by Oliver Fenwick and casting by Pippa Ailion. It is produced by Kenny Wax.

The composing duo, whose past credits include Honk!, Betty Blue Eyes and Just So — all of which have featured animals at their center, have also been represented in the West End and on Broadway by the additional songs they provided for Mary Poppins.

In a press statement, Stiles and Drewe commented, "Most children will know the story of The 3 Little Pigs, so our job has been to reinvent it in a theatrical way, with hummable, memorable songs that will appeal to the whole family. Our 3 Little Pigs - Bar who loves to exercise, Bee who is 'green' to the core, and Q the insatiable bookworm – learn to work together as a team to defeat the Big Bad (but possibly misunderstood) Wolf. We love surprising and bewitching our younger audiences, some of whom will be visiting the theatre for the first time. We take it as a great responsibility to encourage and nurture audiences of the future, so we try to ensure their first experience of a musical is a memorable one."

Prior to the West End, the show will play at artsdepot in London's North Finchley and Birmingham Town Hall. The running time is 55 minutes with no interval.
