The Mean Girls musical celebrated the official opening of its world premiere engagement at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., November 19. The stage adaptation features a book by Tina Fey (screenwriter of the 2003 comedy), music by her husband Jeff Richmond, and lyrics by Nell Benjamin.

Get a First Look at the World Premiere of the Mean Girls Musical


Leading the National Theatre cast is Erika Henningsen (Les Misérables) as high school fresh face Cady Heron (played on screen by Lindsay Lohan). Bringing the Plastics, the vicious clique Heron infiltrates, are Taylor Louderman (Kinky Boots) as queen bee Regina George, Ashley Park (Sunday in the Park with George) as Gretchen Wieners, and Kate Rockwell (Rock of Ages) as Karen Smith.

Following the D.C. engagement, the Casey Nicholaw-helmed musical will play Broadway’s August Wilson Theatre; performances begin March 12, 2018 prior to an April 8 official opening.
