Gibson, the 1980s teen idol, has appeared on Broadway in Cabaret, Les Misérables, Beauty and the Beast and Grease. Dolenz, formerly of The Monkees, has appeared on Broadway in Aida and Grease. Gore, the former teen idol who sang "It's My Party," guest-starred in Smokey Joe's Café.
As previously announced, the four leads from Jersey Boys — Daniel Reichard, J. Robert Spencer and Tony Award winners John Lloyd Young and Christian Hoff — are headlining the event.
Also announced to appear are Kathy Brier (Hairspray), Will Chase (High Fidelity), Jarrod Emick (Damn Yankees), Donnie Kehr (Jersey Boys), Michael Lanning (The Civil War), Norm Lewis (Les Misérables), Billy Porter (Smokey Joe’s Café), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Les Misérables), Greg Reuter (Spamalot), Sara Schmidt (Jersey Boys), Jeremy Schonfeld (Drift), Sherie René Scott (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Matt Stocke (The Wedding Singer) and Patrick Wilson (The Full Monty). Caroline Rhea hosts.
The country star Larry Gatlin, the singer-songwriter Kate Taylor and the 1960s group The Tokens (“The Lion Sleeps Tonight”) will also perform.
The event is a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Wingspan Arts, Inc., presented by Donnie Kehr, Cori Gardner and Good To Go Entertainment. Kehr founded the Rockers on Broadway series in 1993 to give Broadway actors the experience of performing in a rock concert.
