Victoria Bussert will direct the 8 PM concert, which will boast the talents of Stephen Berger, James Judy, Herndon Lackey, Michael James Leslie, Michael McCormick, William Parry, Michele Pawk, Charles Pistone, Steve Routman and Karen Ziemba. A seven-piece jazz band, under the direction of David Evans, will perform the late Michael Gibson's orchestrations. Janet Watson will supply musical staging. The Gig, which is a Richard Rodgers Award winner, features a book and score by Douglas J. Cohen. Based on the Frank. D Gilroy film, the musical, according to press notes, is set in 1982 as a "used car salesman, a dentist, a real estate agent, a financial advisor, a deli owner and a music teacher put their careers and families on hold to pursue their passion – music – with their first professional 'gig' in the Catskills."

The upcoming evening is part of the York's One-Night-Only Special Event Series. People Like Us — Todd Almond and Gus Kaikkonen's musical — will be the second offering in the new series.

Jay Records will record The Gig May 4.

The York Theatre Company is located in Saint Peter's Theatre at 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue. Tickets for the concert, priced $40, are available by calling (212) 868-4444 or by visiting www.smarttix.com.
