The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company annually stages a free, outdoor Shakespeare classic at the Parkman Bandstand. CSC founding artistic director Steven Male will direct Othello, which runs July 28-Aug. 15.

Gilliam ("Oz," Richard III, Father Comes Home from the Wars) will star in the title role, with Waterston ("Six Feet Under," As You Like It, Buffalo Gal) as Iago.

The cast will also feature Marianna Bassham (Desdemona), Dan Roach (Cassio), Adrianne Krstansky (Emilia), Jeremy Browne (Montano), McCaela Donovan (Bianca), Grayson Powell (Roderigo), Philippe Bowgen (Lodovico), John McGinnis (Duke), Arthur Barlas (Senator 1), Arthur Waldstein (Senator 2), Nicholas Crandall (Clown), Greg Coughlin and Terrell Sledge.

CSC describes the play as "a captivating story about the fall of a charismatic Moorish general through the betrayal of one of his most trusted soldiers. Set against a backdrop of war, Othello is a powerful story about love and jealousy that focuses on the passions and personal lives of its major figures."

Othello will have scenic design by Patrick Lynch, costume design by David Reynoso, lighting design by Justin Townsend and sound design by David Remedios. Othello will be presented Tuesday-Saturday at 8 PM and Sundays at 7 PM. For further information visit CommShakes.
