News Gillis and Wright Enjoy A Beautiful View, Again, in Toronto April 28-May 24 Daniel MacIvor's A Beautiful View — a tale of two women that was Dora Award-nominated — returns to Toronto for a run at Tarragon Theatre's Extra Space starting April 28.

Originally produced by Sherrie Johnson, this remount features original players Caroline Gillis and Tracy Wright. The playwright directs.

A Beautiful View was developed by the theatre company da da kamera in residency at the Wexner Center at Ohio State University and premiered there in March 2006. It went on to play a sold-out run at Toronto's Buddies in Bad Times and earned Dora nominations for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Direction of a Play and Outstanding Sound Design.

According to Tarragon, "A Beautiful View traces the story of two women, M (Caroline Gillis) and L (Tracy Wright), whose relationship begins with an intense romantic encounter following drinks at an airport bar. Unsure of their relationship, they reconnect sporadically over the years — on camping trips, at concerts, an ill-fated Halloween party, and finally, on stage. Written in short episodes, the characters both narrate their story and re-enact it as they struggle to understand how they are connected. With his characteristic flair, Daniel MacIvor explores their relationship in a multitude of scenarios — comic and poignant — as he wrestles with our notions of sexuality, friendship, and love."

Now playwright-in-residence at Tarragon, MacIvor's plays include Somewhere I Have Never Travelled, Yes I Am and Who Are You?, See Bob Run, Wild Abandon, This is a Play, Marion Bridge and How It Works (Tarragon 2007). With long-time collaborator Daniel Brooks, he has also created plays as a writer/performer, including House, Here Lies Henry and Monster, which have traveled through Canada, the U.S., Europe, Israel and Australia. In 2006 his collection plays, I Still Love You, won the Governor General's Literary Award for Drama, and in 2008, he received the Siminovitch Prize.

Kimberley Purtell designs the set and lighting, Michael Laird designs the sound. Robert Harding is the stage manager. Official opening is April 29. Performances play to May 24. For more information call (416) 531-1827 or visit tarragontheatre.com.
