News Gilmore Girls Reboot, Starring Broadway Folk, Releases Trailer and Sets Date There will be a musical within the reboot of the series.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the reboot of the popular series that will air on Netflix with some Broadway stars in tow, will premiere November 25. Watch the new trailer above.

As previously reported, Jeanine Tesori, Tony-winning composer of Fun Home, is writing songs for a musical that will be featured as part of the plot.

Appearing in the musical-within-a-film will be Tony winner Sutton Foster (The Drowsy Chaperone), Tony winner Christian Borle (Something Rotten!) and three-time Tony nominee Kerry Butler (Disaster!).

Gilmore Girls is the story of single mother Lorelai and her daughter Rory, who live in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, CT. In the upcoming reboot the history of Stars Hollow will be told in the style of a musical. Gilmore Girls began life as a TV series that aired on the WB and then CW networks from 2000 to 2007. Its cult following persisted long after it was canceled. In response to a social media campaign, Netflix announced it would resurrect the series in a series of short films.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will hit the streaming service at 3:01 AM ET/12:01 AM PT on November 25. The new version of the series will be divided into four 90-minute “chapters,” each spanning one season.
