Classic Arts Features Giordano to Sing Nemorino at the Met April 4; Mastromarino Replaces Taylor in Cavalleria Massimo Giordano will sing Nemorino in L'Elisir d'Amore April 4. Additionally Alberto Mastromarino will sing the role of Alfio at all remaining performances of Cavalleria Rusticana.
Giordano replaces Rolando Villaz‹n, who is suffering from laryngitis. Villazon plans to return for performances on April 8, 11, 15, and 18.

Giordano sang Alfredo in La Traviata and Rodolfo in La Bohme at the Met earlier this season. He made his company debut in 2006 as Des Grieux in Massenet's Manon and the following season sang Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi in the new production of Puccini's Il Trittico, which was also transmitted worldwide as part of The Met: Live in HD series. These will be his first Met performances of Nemorino, a role he has sung with the Berlin State Opera.

The Donizetti classic also stars Angela Gheorghiu, Franco Vassallo and Simone Alaimo. Maurizio Benini conducts.
