News   Glasgow Transvestite Gets Her Say in Solo Play Such Devoted Sisters, in NYC Brits Off Broadway Fest April 26 Brits Off Broadway, the in-repertory New York festival of works from the U.K.'s latest voices, continues with the April 26 first performance of Sisters, Such Devoted Sisters at 59E59 Theaters.

Written and performed by Russell Barr is a production of Out of Joint. It continues in rep to May 15.

"Set in the seamy Glasgow underworld, Sisters, Such Devoted Sisters is a drop-dead funny, violent and unforgettable solo show about the life of Glasgow transvestite Bernice Hindley, self-styled niece of Myra the infamous 'Moors Murderess,'" according to the creators.

Russell Barr (writer/performer) appeared in Out of Joint's hit productions of Mark Ravenhill's Shopping and Fucking and Some Explicit Polaroids on the West End. He played the lead in the film "The Slab Boys." Other film work includes "Pure," "Regeneration," "The Gathering Storm," "Land Girls" and "About a Boy." He is writing his second play, The Main Christmas Story , involving 12 Jack Russell terriers—one of which will play the baby Jesus.

Opening night is April 29 at 8:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday-Friday at 8:30 PM , Saturday at 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM and Sunday at 7:30 PM.
