Proving again that she’s not just a Hollywood star in Broadway’s Sunset Boulevard, Glenn Close will add a special concert of great songs from movie classics, titled Vintage Hollywood, May 22 at Birdland nightclub in Manhattan.

The 9:30 PM concert, which will also feature other members of her Sunset Boulevard cast, will benefit Bring Change 2 Mind, a charity started by Close’s family that “works to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness.”

Vintage Hollywood, which is being presented as part of the club’s “Broadway at Birdland” concert series, will have musical direction by Michael Patrick Walker. The playlist is still being finalized.

In Sunset Boulevard, Close plays a Hollywood film goddess who gradually loses touch with reality. But Close released a statement saying that the issue became even more personal when her sister, Jessie Close, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and her nephew, Calen Pick, was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. According to production notes, “In 2010, the Close Family co-founded Bring Change 2 Mind (BC2M), a nonprofit organization built to start the conversation about mental health, and to raise awareness, understanding, and empathy. BC2M develops influential public service announcements, including its most recent campaign, #MindOurFuture, has piloted evidence-based programs at the university (UBC2M) and high school (LETS BC2M) levels engaging students to reduce stigma and discrimination, and has created a social movement around change by providing people with platforms to share, connect, and learn.”

Tickets for the May 22 concert cost $75, $100, and $250, with the top-price tickets including a meet-and-greet and photo with the star. There is also a $10 food/drink minimum per person. The May 22 concert will preempt the regularly scheduled Jim Caruso’s Cast Party show that night.

Tickets can be ordered online at Birdlandjazz.com or by calling (212) 581-3080. Birdland is located at 315 West 44th Street in New York
